Support Malengo Scholars — and Multiply Your Impact

We’re excited to offer a new way for supporters to invest in the futures of low-income scholars from East Africa. Anyone investing $25,000 or more can now do so through our partner Neta, a platform that makes impact investing simple, tax-efficient, and sustainable.

Through Neta, your contribution directly funds a scholar’s journey to a university or vocational degree in Europe, empowering them to build stable careers and transform their communities.

You can read more about Malengo’s investment opportunities on the Neta platform:

How It Works

1. Set Up a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Through Neta

When you invest via Neta, they establish a donor-advised fund (DAF) for you.
Your contribution becomes an immediate charitable tax deduction and goes directly toward supporting Malengo scholars.

2. Your Investment Supports a Scholar’s Education

Funds from your DAF cover tuition and essential costs for a low-income student from East Africa as they pursue higher education in Europe.

3. Scholars Repay Through Income Share Agreements (ISAs)

Once scholars graduate and secure a job with sufficiently high income, they begin making repayment contributions through income share agreements (ISAs). These repayments:

  • Flow back into your Neta DAF
  • Allow you to recycle your capital
  • Generate a charitable return on your contribution

(Please note: this return remains charitable money — it cannot be taken as personal income.)

4. Reinvest or Support Other Causes

You can reinvest the repaid funds into future Malengo scholars or allocate them to other charitable causes of your choice. Your impact compounds over time, supporting multiple students with a single original contribution.
